I thought Waiting for Godot play, was horrible to read.
The characters Vladimir and Estragon have both decided that nothing is worth doing in the play. I also found it interesting how the first act contains the same action as the second act. Beckett uses repetition in that sense in his play.
They think about committing suicide but they feel its not worth it because one of them will not be able to make it in the crude world alone. Estragon is always messing with his boot to try and find the thing stuck in it, and
Vladimir is constantly searching for the uncomfortable item in his hat.
This seems to make sense considering the fact that Beckett, like many of the other writers we have read, had to deal with World War I. Knowing that I can kinda of understand why the play has the type of scenery and feeling that is has. I didnt really understand this play and will never revisit this play again after this class. Who cares about how to put a shoe on and whats in your hat nobody cares. You was suppose to learn how to put your shoe on a a kid.

I noticed that you mention the tone being similar to other things we have read. I personally saw some parallels between this and The Waste Land. The overall tone, though not quite as obviously dark as The Waste Land, is similar. I thought that was very interesting. The play upon first look may seem pointless, but I think that there are some pretty deep messages underneath the ambiguity of the surface of the play....
